The Bee Group produces a series of themed Special Sections that it inserts into all of its papers. For the ‘Spring Preview’ section, the focus was on the upcoming season and all the activities you could do, as well as events you could attend. For this cover, I wanted to create a scene that felt bright and inviting, like a door you could step through. I decided to build an illustration of flowers in front of an arch over a photograph of a meadow. I felt that the flowers would create a visual engagement with the viewers to draw them in, and then the hint at a real meadow behind the ‘door’ would encourage them to open the cover and see more.
